1-Megerian Carpet

Specialization: in the field of production and sale of handmade carpets

Farsh Megrian was founded in 1917 and has branches in different provinces of Armenia. Apart from Armenia, this company also has production branches in Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, China and Romania and showrooms in Yerevan, America and Switzerland. 80% of the company’s products are exported to America, Europe and Russia. The production of this company in 2017 was 2000 square meters.

2- Tufangyan Carpet Nar (founded in 1994)

Specialization: production of handmade carpets

Tufangian has sales branches in Dallas, Chicago, New York and California.

90% of the products of this company are exported to America and only 10% are sold in the domestic market.

3- Karabagh Carpet (established in 2013)

This company has production branches in most regions of Armenia and produces 500 carpets annually. The products of this company are exported to America and Russia. The price of each square meter of carpets of this company is 160,000 drams and 75,000 per square meter of carpets, depending on the density of the carpet. It is a drama.

4- Ijoan Carpet (established in 1964)

Specialization: production of machine and handwoven carpets. 20% of the company’s production is exported to Russia.

5-Simonian Carpet (established in 1992)

Expertise: in the field of handwoven carpet production and sale.

Contemporary events and conflicts between Armenians and Ottomans have caused a part of the history of Armenian carpet weaving, especially Artsakh carpets, to face threats. Now there is a museum in America to protect the art of Artsakh carpets and in it nearly 300 examples of precious Artsakh carpets are kept.

Since Armenia has long been a place for carpet weaving and its export to the Christian centers of Europe, the flow of carpet weaving and sales in this country soon became industrialized and factories weaving hand-woven carpets and exporting them all over the world flourished in this country. Currently, the flow of handwoven carpets in Armenia is owned by several large and old factories, the most famous and oldest of which is the Tofenkian factory.

One of the areas that has the most weavers for the Tofenkian factory is Gyumri city, which is the second most important city in Armenian carpet weaving.

Armenian carpet is one of those carpets that can easily find its place in minimal and modern decoration.
