The importation of a temporary transit car from Armenia includes conditions and laws that the compliance with which protects and exempts the importer from committing the crime of goods smuggling according to the laws of Iran. These conditions are:
- The life limit of imported used cars should not be more than 5 years, that is, only cars manufactured from 2018 onwards can enter Iran.
The sources of foreign exchange required for the import of cars in Armenia should be from the sources of foreign currencies obtained from the investor’s exports, the source of foreign currencies and other sources approved by the Central Bank of Iran.
Armenian cars with a cylinder volume less or more than 1000 cc, but not more than 2500 cc.
The price of imported cars should not exceed forty thousand dollars.
Car importing companies must provide the car with after-sales service guarantee to the customers.
The import of temporary transit cars from Armenia does not include luxury cars such as Maserati, Bugatti or Porsche.
The person importing the car must have lived outside of Iran for at least 3 months.
After passing their 3-month period, temporary transit vehicles are allowed to renew their license plates only once, after which they must take the vehicle out of the country within 10 days, otherwise they will be prosecuted for smuggling.
Temporary pass cars cannot be rented to non-rental persons and only the owner of the car is allowed to drive it.
The conditions for importing a car for temporary transit from Armenia are subject to the provision of a guarantee, which should be three times the value of the car and is done in the form of a cash deposit.
